Life and living it

I am working on trying to put my life and my house into better order. That damn accident has made so many things harder for me to do or keep up with, and I have used it as an excuse to let thing go, like the mountains of clean laundry that grow and grow before I finally put it away. The shoes live close to the bed, another untidy mess I am now starting to deal with. But I need to have part of them handy so I decide which pairs live just under the bed and where the others go and then put them away. And I need to work on finances, will sell part of the vacation days I still have, won't use 8 days between middle April and the end of May so selling them soon will help put the finances into better order. I should not have gotten the new iPad but sure like it and am using it a lot. So, sell some vacation time, pay down the bill for the new toy and keep a tight budget until I have some bills paid off. I'm finally almost done with re-caning the Lincoln rocker I picked up last fall. I let it sit for months but finally decided I wanted it done and usable and would not wait until it was warm enough to work outside. It is a wet job and many long hours. I will have over 30 hours into re-weaving the cane seat and back once I am finished but it really looks good and is worth far more than the $35 I paid for it.

Oh, it is the same here...Mike has been in and out of the hospital for the last 18 months...every single month. I can get laundry done but not get things put away. I can get the dishes done but not put away. I was ironing last night (I actually like to iron) and I asked him to fold his socks and put them away. Didn't I mean sort them and fold them and put them away? THREE things? And I thought to myself, how I wish I only had three things to do and someone else would just pick up all of the slack and I could just WANT things done and there would be someone who would just DO it. Sort of like being the Queen. Or a man.
You have made a huge amount of progress...look at how much you have overcome and how much you have endured and how much better you are. How lucky you are to be able to sell your vacation days- that money will come in handy. And good for you, getting that rocker re-caned!
(I got all the mending and ironing done; the socks got put away and the kitchen and both bathrooms are clean..,.,,.so if I look at all I HAVE done, it is a very big pile. Your "Done" list is a very big pile indeed!

Thank you, there's the 'before accident' Maggie and the 'after' Maggie and I am trying to accept being the 2nd one but still miss and Want to BE the 'get it done, always busy and bouncing' person I was. And the rocker is done and I am pleased with it, 35+ hours of labor, $35 chair and caning supplies ran me abut $30 when I ordered caning last. So, not bad cost wise, did 2 Lincoln rockers, both seats and backs and probably have enough cane to do a small/med chair seat.
